Publisher pressure has lately seen the price of digitally-distributed games like Borderlands 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown inflated for customers in Australia and New Zealand. The new prices bring sites like Green Man Gaming in line with high street retailers, but have understandably upset customers used to having games cost less money. GMG’s solution? A 30% off voucher at their own expense.
Aussie gamers have always felt shortchanged by the high prices they’re frequently asked to pay for digital downloads. A thriving market for CD keys purchased in other regions has sprung up in the last few years as a result.
“The ANZ markets are very important to us and we get a lot of love there,” GMG told us. “It was a hard decision to take at the time but we’ve been looking at ways of remedying the situation since.
“We hope that having a special voucher across these titles, at GMG’s cost, will help us win back a lot of the goodwill in these markets that took us over 2 years to establish.”
