Bohemia are offering €500,000 of prizes in Make Arma Not War modding contest

Bohemia are bringing all the Arma modders out of the woodwork with the offer of lovely, lovely money. For this year’s Make Arma Not War contest the studio has poured €500,000 into the prize pot. The winner of the Total Modification category alone will take home €200,000.

The competition is split across four categories – Total Modification, Singleplayer Game Mode, Multiplayer Game Mode, and Addon. The prizes are skewed in favour of the Total Modification category, likely because it A) takes the most work and B) best shows off what the Arma 3 engine is capable of.

The winner of the Total Modification category gets €200,000, while in the other categories the prize money is divided between 1st place (€50,000), 2nd place (€30,000), and 3rd place (€20,000) winners.

There’s another prize, though, one which is a tad more interesting than the others. Bohemia have partnered with the International Committee of the Red Cross to offer a one week trip to an ICRC mission in a foreign country. This trip goes to the mod which best covers the topic of ‘healthcare in danger’. While it’s not a monetary prize, the trip would be a rare experience, seeing how organisations work in conflict zones to provide care and stay out of danger.

You can read more about the contest and the prizes and the application page.

The contest closes on 26 October but winners won’t be announced till 15 January, 2015.
