Call of Duty Elite may be going free but “PC will not be supported”

Following the news that elements of Call of Duty’s Elite service would be made free for all gamers, we reached out to Activision’s PR to see if this applied to PC gamers. Currently, it does not.

More on this below.

The reason we asked was because, despite launching with the console versions of Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty Elite has yet to make its way to the PC. As Eurogamer pointed out in March, Activision’s Noah Heller said “Our goal has always been to provide a free PC offering for Elite. Stay tuned for an update as timing is still being determined.”

So with elements of the service being made freeon the release of Black Ops 2 it would seem feasible that this would apply to the PC, that this would be the chance for Heller’s words to be applied. Though when we contacted Activision earlier this evening we received this response:

“At present PC will not be supported by Call of Duty Elite. I can’t comment any further than that at this point.”

So at some point in the last seven months there seems to havebeen an internal reversal of position.

Update: We’ve sincereceivedword from Activision that “We are evaluating options for Call of Duty Elite to support PC but that it will not be supported at launch on 13th November.”
