Counter-like: Call of Duty: Ghosts’ new Reinforce mode doesn’t do respawns

Call of Duty: Ghosts, as viewed down a barrel.

Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Reinforce isn’t so much a new mode as all of the existing ones stuck together – the factory-fused amalgam of sweets that turns up at the bottom of the packet.

Teams can win matches by killing all of their opponents, capturing three flags, or taking over two objective points – and then sprint for the dropship. Just joking on that last point – but it does rather feel like Infinity Ward have mishmashed their best work into a trashily compelling frag salad; much like our Call of Duty: Ghosts review suggests.

You’ll find Reinforce listed as an alternate mode in the Private Match menu. It can be played with both players and bots across any of Ghosts’ existing multiplayer maps.

The round-based game mode takes its pointers from Domination and Search and Rescue. Respawns are disabled, but if a team captures a point they are rejoined by all of previously deaded teammates – Reinforced, if you will.

You’ll only need to control two objective points when the time limit runs out for a victory – but teams can bring a more immediate end to a round by capturing all three flags or simply taking their enemies out one-by-one. The first team to win four rounds takes the match.

Custom rules let players fiddle with score and time limits – but default Reinforce sounds interesting enough, with its enforced ebb and flow of player waves. Are you lot keen on it? Or do your hearts already belong to CoD: Kevin Spacey edition?

Cheers, MP1st and VG247.
