France’s specialities are related to espionage and building mid-game wonders.
As ruler, Catherine de Medici can deploy her ladies-in-waiting to secure extra diplomatic information from each Civ she meets. She might not have been allowed much influence during her reign, but I bet she could tell you a few stories about some powerful people.
France is also the only nation able to build châteaus – a tile improvement to be built adjacent to rivers – which helps with tourism, especially when coupled with those mid-game wonders. The new ruler certainly makes a change from Napoleon.
