Company of Heroes 2: Western Front Armies returns to old haunts on June 24th

Company of Heroes 2: Western Front Armies

Sega has revealed that Company of Heroes 2’s standalone expansion, Western Front Armies will be breaking through enemy lines come June 24th.

The expansion is a multiplayer affair, returning to the Western front, where the original Company of Heroes was set. Goodbye, snow-covered Russia.

As the name implies, the focus is on the new armies and setting. Fighting in the Western front maps are American troops and the German Oberkommando West.

Both forces get new toys to play with, with new soldiers, vehicles, an extended progression system and upgrades being thrown into the mix. They’ll fight across eight maps throughout the Western front of World War II. The 23 existing maps from the core game will also be accessible via auto-match battles.

If you fancy pre-ordering it now, you’ll also get two free vehicle skins and matching face plates. You can grab it for £14.99/$19.99.

Sega and Relic are calling it an entry point into the series for new players, though the absence of a single-player campaign to ease new players into the battles seems like an oversight if that is the case.

Cheers, Eurogamer.
