Blizzard confirms world's first completion of Diablo 3 on Hardcore Inferno mode

Pictured above: the exact moment Kripp's and Krippi's sphincters simultaneously unclenched.

Remember when Blizzard suggested that these two fine gents weren't the first in the world to complete Diablo 3 on Hardcore Inferno difficulty? Well they've gone and changed their minds, with Diablo 3 community manager Bashiok taking to Twitter to congratulate the pair on their unparalleled accomplishment. "My apologies Kripp and Krippi, looks like you were 1st HC Inferno clear. (my spreadsheet deciphering isn't what it used to be) Congrats!"

There's now a 25 minute long video documenting the ultimate showdown between Kripp the Barbarian, Krippi the Wizard and Diablo himself. The stakes? Well, as they were playing in Hardcore mode, the pair stood to permanently lose their progress, their max-level characters and their high-level gear should they have perished. And even though you know they're going to win, it's still tenser than a barb's bicep. Check it out.

Look out for a moment just after 8m 30s in which Kripp is frozen and unexpectedly knocked into one of Diablo's cage traps. You can almost hear the man's genitals crawling up into his torso as the briefest glimpse of potential failure flickers past his eyes. All of this took place just hours before the whole server was taken down for maintenance too, dangling a giant 1.0.3 patch-shaped sword over their efforts. This is basically Speed 3.

Patch 1.0.3 is live on both European and American servers now, and reduces the difficulty of Inferno mode such that a feat like this can no longer be truly matched. Instead their achievement has been immortalised, an historical triumph of two players over one of the most difficult game scenarios ever created. Here here.
