Casting Emily as a protagonist became a “bit of an obsession” for Dishonored 2 devs

Dishonored 2 Emily

A new trailer has launched for Dishonored 2 and it’s another one focused on Emily Kaldwin, her powers and her creation. While we’ve already heard a fair bit about how she’s different to Corvo, it’s fascinating to learn how much Arkane wanted to cast her as a protagonist for this stealth sequel.

Never let anything slip you by with our list of upcoming PC games.

You might be able to play as Corvo again, but this is clearly Emily’s story. It’s her throne that’s been usurped, it’s her empire she’s fighting for. Corvo has trained her for years for this moment, and now it’s time to release her like some caged beast – one that can turn into a clawed shadow and tear a man in half.

Emily’s life hasn’t been great, really. Her mother was cut down in front of her, she was captured and stuffed in a tiny room, and then she spent her days doodling in a tower, worried for the fate of her father as he exacted his revenge. Corvo’s terrifying mask couldn’t have helped, either.

That’s why I’ll be playing as Emily first, not just because of her wide array of exciting new powers – which you can see in the video above – but because I want to tear my way through Karnaca like a tornado of rage, and I think that kind of playthrough suits Emily far more than Corvo.

Dishonored 2 releases on November 11.
