Rumour: Bethesda may have just leaked Dishonored 2 through “test” Twitch stream

Dishonored 2 E3 2015

Derp – Bethesda just went live on their Twitch channel briefly, seemingly practicing for tomorrow’s E3 event. During the broadcast – where only audio was available – people can be heard discussing stage performances. According to folk who caught the stream, Dishonored 2 was mentioned to be the focus of their discussion. Hilariously though, the stream was quickly identified and shut down by an untimely interruption.

“Excuse me, you’re being picked up by a mic right now.”

“Ha-ha, very funny.”

“No, I’m not kidding.”

“Oh…”

While the VOD of the stream was instantly deleted, YouTuber Matty Schroeder uploaded his own capture to YouTube. Predictably, this was immediately taken down by ZeniMax. A clip of the audio still exists though, but apparently misses the key mention of “Dishonored 2” being mentioned.

Again, it’s impossible to confirm who the men are who are talking in the clip, but speculation puts one of them as Harvey Smith, co-director of the original Dishonored game. The French speaker is quite possibly Raph Colantonio too, the president of Arkane Studios.

Bethesda are taking the mishap in their stride however, tweeting the following:

Last year, VG247 received a rather official looking fact sheet for a Dishonored sequel, but it was neither confirmed or denied by Bethesda. The outlet then went on to say that earlier this year, they heard a “credible rumour” that Dishonored 2 would be skipping this year’s show, in favour of a new Definitive Edition of the original game.

Speculation aside, we’ll know one way or another in tomorrow’s Bethesda’s E3 conference.
