Bethesda register new trademark; is the next Skyrim expansion going to be called Hearthfire?

Comment

Sorry Sir, your trademark application has been denied.

Those eagle-eyed Americans over at Venture Beat have spotted that Zenimax, parent company of Bethesda, have registered a new trademark, Hearthfire. Which, according to Elder Scrolls' lore is the ninth month of the Tamriel year. Somewhat suggesting we could be looking at the next expansion pack for Skyrim.

Further speculation and details below.

Now, when Venture Beat contacted Bethesda about their findings they were met with a firm "No comment". But considering that the trademark application reads "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices," it seems somewhat likely.

Now, considering that the third day of Hearthfire is a holiday called Tale of Tallows, a night of necromancy and devilry, it has led some to speculate the expansion will focus on the living dead. We, however, do not indulge in idle speculation here at PCGamesN.

Here are what we're guessing the next titles to be pulled out of the Bethesda naming sock will be:

  • Battlehewn
  • Ashsmoke
  • Foresttree
  • Pitstain
  • Kingcrown
  • Crotchhaven
  • Pincushion

With all those fellows to knock out the park, looks like it'll be a fair while till the next full Elder Scrolls game.
