Landmark

EverQuest Next Landmark wants a corner of your hard drive and all your internet for itself

EverQuest Next Landmark SOE

SOE have announced the minimum system specs for EverQuest Next Landmark. The alpha is pegged to start in the next two months (SOE have become cagey as to exactly when). The specs will likely also apply to EverQuest Next when that launches in 2015.

In two aspects in particular EverQuest Landmark looks to be particularly demanding. It asks 20gb of your hard drive and at least a 10Mbit/sec internet connection.

Here are the specs published to SOE’s site:

Minimum System Requirements:

OS – Windows 7 64 bit

Processor – Intel i5 Dual Core or higher / AMD Phenom X3 or higher

Memory – 4GB RAM

Hard Drive – 20GB Free

Video Memory – 1,024 MB RAM

Video Card – nVidia GeForce GTX 275 series or higher / AMD HD 4890 or higher

Sound Card – DirectX compatible

Internet – Broadband (10Mbit/sec or higher)

Recommended System Requirements:

OS – Windows 7 64 bit

Processor – Intel i5 Quad Core or higher / AMD Phenom II X6 or higher

Memory – 8GB RAM

Hard Drive – 20GB Free

Video Memory – 1,024 MB RAM

Video Card – nVidia GeForce GTX 560 series or higher / AMD HD 6870 or higher

Sound Card – DirectX compatible

Internet – Broadband (10Mbit/sec or higher)

Cheers, VG247.

20 GB HDD should not be a problem for most, but 10Mbit/sec could be a problem for some, but I think it has to do with the world being more than just a flat canvas like most mmorpgs are. When you e.g. look at minecraft, it can be quite demanding considering the level of graphics in that game. Here the server and client both have to agree on what is going on in a new kind of gaming world, that we are not used to playing in.
