Fable Anniversary launches tomorrow; will have limited modding support

Fable Anniversary

Fable Anniversary got a lukewarm reception when it launched in Xbox 360 way back in February, but Lionhead’s offering a little bit more with the PC version: modding support.

On top of the HD textures, improved lighting and tweaked UI, Fable Anniversary on PC will come with a version of the Unreal Engine 3 editor, allowing players to fiddle around with the art and animation, putting their own stamp on the decade-old RPG.

“This means that anything our artists and animators can do, the mod community will now be able to do,” producer Craig Oman explains.

Modding will be limited to art and animation, though, so don’t expect to be able to make any new quests, items, or fundamental changes to the game.

While Steam Workshop integration is also being planned, it won’t be ready for Fable Anniversary’s launch on Steam tomorrow. Oman says that the team will continue to support the modding community after the game’s launch, however.

“[W]e are working with some of the modding community already as part of our beta testing and we will continue to do what we can to support them post launch.”

Cheers, Eurogamer.
