Fallout 4: Pip-Boy edition is completely sold out and Bethesda can’t make any more

Fallout 4 pip-boy

Are you getting Fallout 4’s fancy Pip-Boy Collector’s Edition? You’ll know if you are, because you’ll already have a pre-order in place. If not, then it’s tough luck for you, as Bethesda have completely exhausted the factory making them, and so there won’t be any more going on sale.

Plenty of us talk about how cynical we’ve become of the plastic tat that comes with overpriced Collector’s Editions of games. But Fallout 4 is different. It’s Collector’s Edition comes with a plastic Pip-Boy you can actually mount on your wrist and use, just like in the game! But it’s now sold out everywhere, and lots of people are sad about it.

Talking to Gamespot, Bethesda’s Pete Hines explained that the factory producing the Pip-Boys had been given a couple of extra orders, but can no longer fit any more productions runs into the schedule.

“We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make,’” Hines said.

“We made a shitload of Pip-Boys, and we went back and made more, and went back and made more. I think we did more of these things than we did for any collector’s edition we’ve ever done, ever.”

The factory is still churning out Pip-Boys right now, but every single one has been sold before it has even left the production line. If you were hoping to pick one up, it looks like eBay and other various trading sites are your only hope now. It’s inevitable we’ll be seeing Pip-Boys listed at absurd prices in the days following release.

Fallout 4 releases November 10th. Need to know more? Here’s Everything We Know.
