Harder, better, faster, stronger may not have been the song you played on loop while completing your first playthrough of Gearbox’s ARPG-styled shooter, Borderlands 2, but with the new Ultimate Vault Hunter difficulty mode it may be a necessity.
While coming equipped with enemies which are “significantly more difficult” there’s much better loot on offer in Borderlands new difficulty setting, including “an entirely new rarity of loot”.

It's Sunday, trying to capitalise on the vestiges of last nights drugs you turn to games for something to spark your brain's few remaining synapses. Gash darn it, though, you seem to have lost the ability to choose what to play. Luckily for you, we're here to help. This is what we've been using to artificially stimulate our brains for the past week.Read and Comment
Last night, Antony Burch was "pretending to be a 300-lb man with fourteen pecs" as he became the titular star of the new Bordlerands 2 DLC, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage. Mr. Torgue answered questions on his favourite topic, which is explosions, fielding such gems as "WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING TO EXPLODE?" to which he replied "YOUR MIND."Read and Comment

The past few months have been littered with fantastic releases - Hotline Miami, Dishonored, The Walking Dead - we've been spoilt for choice as gamers. The real victims are our wallets. The poor things have been pulled open and gutted by every games publisher worth their salt. Well, our retail partner Green Man Gaming have given us the heads up on a deal that should salve your wallet's wounds.

“Don’t be fooled by her rather adorable exterior, chums,” drools Gearbox’s colonial Brit narrator of Gaige the Mechromancer. If you didn’t give her a rather adorable exterior, chum, there’d be no cause for confusion, says I.
Beyond that, though, Gaige is undoubtedly a Good Thing. The DLC-only Mechromancer is Gearbox’s attempt to draw in players new to twitch FPS, and that aim - or lack thereof - seems well-reflected in her abilities. More on those after the break.Read and Comment
That’s the eponymous pirate there. She’s not so much mechanically augmented as cobbled together using equal parts pistons and poor attitude, and it’s not clear whether she asked for this. It’s her you’ll face down in seaside-resort-turned-wasteland Oasis, a brand new corner of Pandora.Read and Comment
Gaige, get it? Gaige. She's Borderlands 2's first DLC character, comprising the magic-meets-mechanics Mechromancer class due to arrive a week from now. Except Gearbox have just announced that she's arriving today instead, perhaps anticipating that following the launches of both Dishonored and XCOM: Enemy Unknown this week, we'll all be broke by October 16. The game's fifth class will be free for those who pre-ordered, otherwise costing $9.99. She's got a pet robot.Read and Comment

Borderlands 2 will have some DLC that won't be covered by the game's Season Pass, Randy Pitchford has said in a Kotaku reader Q&A, which is absolutely fair enough, if a little bit confusing. The £19.99 (on Steam) Season Pass will net you the four major campaign expansions heading to Borderlands 2, though additional weapons, characters and vehicles such as the Mechromancer will require forking out more pennies.

Here’s a good news story: responding to the news that Eastern European players of Borderlands 2 would be receiving a Russian version of the game, over the international version many would have preferred, 2K have announced in a statement to RPS that the players affected will receive two versions of the game: The Russian version and the International version.Read and Comment

With the Borderlands 2 release taking place across this week, it’s not just the date that’s different depending on where exactly you live on our great big spinning ball of a world. People who have bought the game on Steam in Russia, along with a range of other Eastern European countries, have found that their game has an odd little suffix at the end of it when they went to preload it on Steam. Instead of just being ‘Borderlands 2’, they’ve got ‘Borderlands 2 RU’.

Gearbox have announced a DLC season pass as a way of buying all four of Borderland 2's upcoming DLC packs for a slightly cheaper lump sum than if they were bought individually. Sounds somewhat similar to Battlefield 3's Premium pack doesn't it? It looks like EA may have started a trend with that one. Though Gearbox seem to have been a little less generous.
