
If you’re one of the nearly 334,000,000 to have watched South Korean pop culture subversionist PSY’s new video, you’ll have seen him being very rude indeed - pulling chairs from beneath unexpecting ladies and laughing uproariously at the inevitable results. I’ve half a mind to claim that he’s no gentleman at all. In fact, he seems to have been recognised as a kindred spirit by what we might delicately call the deconstructive class of Minecraft - the griefers.

Firefall’s been in closed beta for a good while. Occasionally it opens its doors to the public for a weekend of jumping up and down on the bed to see what breaks, but always kicks everybody out before its parents get back on Monday morning. No longer. From July, Red 5 will enter “the most important stage of Firefall’s development” - the bit when they open the floodgates and let the players flow in unchaperoned.

Turns out Red 5, developers of free-to-play MMO shooter Firefall, sneaked out a television station while no one was looking. Till now they’ve been keeping Stage 5 TV quitely tucked away on Youtube but that time of silence is over.
With the launch of their new series Game Changers Red 5 took to the stage at PAX East yesterday to spill the beans on the channels beginnings and plans for the future.

Red 5 had a “dark launch” for Firefall’s European servers last weekend, during which players presumably stumbled about and bumped into each other a lot. But now the developers have turned the lights on - the servers are live, stable and ready to take the weight of our continent’s players this weekend.
