Firefall devs release milestone 0.6 update alongside lengthiest patch notes world has ever seen

The patch notes for the 0.6 update to massively multiplayer FPS Firefall clock in at an astonishing 7,337 words, enough words to drown a small rodent, enough words to reach from here to the moon, depending on font size, enough words to feed a family of sentences for a month. The girth of these notes should give you some sense of the scale of the changes Red 5 have made to their game's progression systems, which have been ceremoniously overhauled. That's progress, after all.

EA deploy patch 1.2 to SimCity; disables Cheetah speed

Patch 1.2 has just hit SimCity, with it applying fixes to common crashes. While the game suffers from serious server strain, EA have also disabled some ‘non-critical gameplay elements’ such as leaderboards, achievements and region filters. One of the most peculiar changes is that to the speed the game can be played. The highest setting known as Cheetah Speed is now only as fast as Llama Speed, presumably to reduce further server load.

ShootMania Storm's biggest patch ever adds grappling hooks and slidingIs it in its guns? Oh no that's just bullets. Is it in its maps? Oh no that's just vaguely neo-Aztec architecture, I think. (Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot) oh if you wanna know what makes the latest ShootMania update so nice, it's in its grappling hooks. Yes, the second phase of Nadeo's eSports shooter has proper grappling hooks, and I've got Cher stuck in my head.

Dota 2 patch adds Timbersaw to the roster alongside hints that Bastion's narrator will appear as announcerIt’s patch day in Dota 2 land: for the first time in a few weeks, Valve have treated us to a new hero.

Meet Timbersaw. He is a tree-shredding machine of death. A complete anti-environmentalist. Many of his abilities revolve around cutting down the foliage. He is not fond of chlorophyll.

Meanwhile, there are signs that the Bastion Announcer Pack is nearing: but we knew that was coming six months ago.

Ghostcrawler on Pandaria and beyond: WoW players "shouldn't have time to get bored." If you're a World of Warcraft player, Greg Street is Important. He's the 'lead systems designer' of WoW: the person responsible for maintain some semblance of balance across all of WoW's classes and subclasses. That makes him the go-to man for WoW players to complain about their/someone else's class/spec being over/underpowered.

What’s odd is how open Greg is: he’s active on the Blizzard forums and twitter, ready to answer player’s questions with a level of detail, depth and earnest honesty unmatched in the industry.

He’s also quite funny.

Hotline Miami has more to come, including extra levels, pad support and a patchResponding to a twitter query about extra levels or even a level editor, the Hotline Miami account today tweeted that "more will come." Some fans of the twitchy bludgeoning and blasting have already finished the game and are keen for more, more, more. More blood. More guns. More baseball bats. Just one more level. Just one more fragile little skull to cave in. Is that really so much to ask for? I can stop any time.

Tomorrow's Battlefield 3 server update will introduce an option to remove the game's enemy highlighting minimap from Hardcore mode, as well as "balancing tweaks" to Armored Kill's gunship, exploit fixes and more.

With the International over, Valve are back into the swing of things and adding heroes left and right to Dota 2. Or, adding one hero many times. Meepo is coming to Dota 2, and he’s multiplying. Because that’s what he does.
Update: Valve have changed the way the pause timer works so that it is still 30 seconds before the opposing team can unpause if a player disconnects, which removes most problems with reducing the timer.
