Dota 2 patch lets you create your own eSports team; wave your flag

The latest Dota 2 patch to hit the test client this morning introduces the long awaited ability to create official teams within the client. Professional teams have had access to this for some time, being able to mark their bases in colourful logos/sponsors and display them in tournaments such as The International. Now thousands of Dota teams can show their colours on the battlefield and forever burn their names into the enemies mind.

With the second International starting to creep up onto the horizon, things are stepping up in Dota 2.
Since November last year, teams have been competing in League of Legends for a spot in one of the regionals that are leading up to the World Championship of Season 2. The total prize pot for the entire tournament is $5 million, although $1 million has been given out already. It’s a frankly obscene amount of money, and it’s really establishing League of Legends as a premier E-Sport along the likes of Starcraft 2.
