Any gems bought during the coming Guild Wars 2 beta weekend will be retained into the live game

In a post on the Guild Wars 2 blog, Arena.net have confirmed that the gem store; the in-game store that allows players to buy XP boosts and other items will be functional during the coming weekend. Players will be able to turn their real cash into virtual cash that can then be spent on ‘stuff’.

Want to try the Secret World before it launches on July 3rd? Good news: an open beta test will take place this weekend: from 9am PDT June 22nd to 11.59pm PDT on June 24th. New to the beta will be the Secret World's PvP modes - but you'll also be able to test all the zones deployed in previous betas.
Are you ready? Are your clients updated, your bellies full, your complimentary ArenaNet urination pouches properly installed? Are you ready to spend the next three days lost in Tyria, battling your fellow virtual man, or banding together with them to take on the artificially intelligent tyranny of the NPC? Eagerly-awaited MMO Guild Wars 2’s second beta weekend will kick off on 8pm on Friday 8 June, and wrap up at 7.59am on Monday 11 June. That’s a whole two days, 11 hours and 59 minutes of Guild Wars 2 action. It’s also right after E3 so we might, just might, see some exciting newly-announced content in the beta.
