In a post on the Guild Wars 2 blog, Arena.net have confirmed that the gem store; the in-game store that allows players to buy XP boosts and other items will be functional during the coming weekend. Players will be able to turn their real cash into virtual cash that can then be spent on ‘stuff’.
The Asura (terrifying little sheep people) and the Sylvari (sinister giant plant people) aren’t the only things new to the final Beta Weekend that Guild Wars 2 is going to get before it heads into launch at the end of August. After this that’s it, that’s your lot, it’s all done. Over. Kaputt. So it’s a good thing there’s lots of stuff to keep you interested.
With each day, Guild Wars 2 is getting closer to release. It was before, but now that we’ve got a release date we can count down, rather than up. And as it’s getting closer, so too is the next Beta Weekend, which kicks off on the 20th. The really exciting thing, though, is that the Release Client and the Beta Client, at that point, will be exactly the same. So that last Beta Weekend is more of a treat to pre-purchasers, rather than the extensive stress testing and bug-finding of previous endeavours. It also means a few things. A few exciting things.
It's so close; so close you can feel it. The Guild Wars 2 release date is now set for Tuesday August 28th. But if you can't wait to play it until then, there's one final beta weekend taking place, on July 20th to 22nd. Then Arenanet go dark; until the game's finally out.
Our Spotlight units plug content our journalists have made, that our advertisers want to promote. Sometimes the promotion is paid for, but the content they go to is always independent with no client oversight or approval.
Want to try the Secret World before it launches on July 3rd? Good news: an open beta test will take place this weekend: from 9am PDT June 22nd to 11.59pm PDT on June 24th. New to the beta will be the Secret World's PvP modes - but you'll also be able to test all the zones deployed in previous betas.
Are you ready? Are your clients updated, your bellies full, your complimentary ArenaNet urination pouches properly installed? Are you ready to spend the next three days lost in Tyria, battling your fellow virtual man, or banding together with them to take on the artificially intelligent tyranny of the NPC? You need to feed the cat first? Ok, I’ll wait.
We’re going to be playing this Beta Weekend 2, and we’re going to be playing on the Desolation server, lost in the war torn mire that is the WvWvW PvP. Come join us, we’re probably going to get killed, but we might get one or two of our own before we go down. The more of us to kill, the less likely that you’ll die first, right? Right. The BWE2 starts at 8pm BST, which is in an hour and a half. Stop fidgeting, it’ll get here soon enough.
Eagerly-awaited MMO Guild Wars 2’s second beta weekend will kick off on 8pm on Friday 8 June, and wrap up at 7.59am on Monday 11 June. That’s a whole two days, 11 hours and 59 minutes of Guild Wars 2 action. It’s also right after E3 so we might, just might, see some exciting newly-announced content in the beta.
