Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 launches on the anniversary of the original

Five Nights at Freddy's 4 release date

Scott Cawthon, the man Five Nights at Freddy’s, is a sprinter. Last year, the first in the series of animatronic nightmares launched, followed by two more in rapid succession. Three games in a year is quite a lot, and in a single series? Well that’s just a bit loopy.

And now it looks like Cawthon wants to increase that number before the year is up. Five Nights at Freddy’s, which was originally teased with a Halloween release date, is actually just around the corner.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will jump out of a cupboard and scare the shit out of you on August 8th, the one year anniversary of the first game.

Cawthon spilled the beans to YouTubers, who then made the announcement on their channels. Here’s one of them from a very excited Scottish man:

While Cawthon is certainly prolific, the release schedule doesn’t look quite as mad when compared to episodic games, and like episodic titles, Five Nights at Freddy’s doesn’t change all that dramatically from game to game. This is probably going to be the final one, though “Final Chapter” might just be a red herring.

A special free update is also in the works for Halloween, so the ghoulish day isn’t being completely forgotten.

Cheers, Eurogamer.
