GOG Galaxy, GOG’s DRM-free platform, is now in Open Beta

GoG Galaxy

If you’re looking for a Digital Rights Management-free alternative to Steam, then GOG have got your back. The retailer of DRM-free older PC games, and now plenty of new games too, has created their own platform and client to play games bought through the service with. It’s been in alpha for a little while, but has now launched in open beta form for all to try.

The service is optional, and you can continue to buy and play games from GOG.com without the use of the Galaxy client. But using Galaxy will give you access to Steam-like features such as automatic updates and achievements. The software is cross-play enabled too, meaning Steam and Galaxy users can play together.

Galaxy launches with 1,000 games, and more will be added as time goes by. To try it out now, download it from GOG.

Thanks, VG247.
