Any gems bought during the coming Guild Wars 2 beta weekend will be retained into the live game

In a post on the Guild Wars 2 blog, Arena.net have confirmed that the gem store; the in-game store that allows players to buy XP boosts and other items will be functional during the coming weekend. Players will be able to turn their real cash into virtual cash that can then be spent on ‘stuff’.

The good news is that while your characters will be wiped, the cash that you have invested will be retained, and you’ll have a stock of gems when the game restarts in August. Players will also retain their friends lists, so you hook back up with everyone you met online.

The beta weekend begins on Friday - and we’ll be online. We’ll post details of our server and guild tomorrow - we’d love to meet up with you in-game.
