Don’t Starve Together announced: it’s easier to not starve when you can eat a chum

Don't Starve Together announced

Don’t Starve was such a lonely experience for me that I forced a pigman to become my friend. We fought together, hunted together and huddle around the fire together when the shadows got close. Then I killed him, cooked him and ate him.

But that loneliness isn’t going to last forever. Klei has revealed that it’s creating a proper multiplayer expansion for up to four players (and maybe more). It’s called Don’t Starve Together, obviously.

Klei originally stated that Don’t Starve would always been single-player. “As we developed Don’t Starve, multiplayer slowly turned into a hot button issue in the community… However, at the time we didn’t have the resources to make it happen and we weren’t confident that it would actually work both in concept and implementation.”

Things have changed, though. New folk have been brought into Klei, they created a proof of concept for a multiplayer expansion, and the studio decided to roll with it.

Klei wants to let players get their hands on it in late summer and will have testing phases, just like with the core game. It will work just like Don’t Starve, retaining all of the original’s features and possibly some more on top of the multiplayer element.

Best of all, it’s only going to be blooming free if you already own Don’t Starve.

Are there any chums you’d simply love to have with you on a horrifying survival adventure? Even just to torture and torment?
