Following last month’s statement from a Daybreak representative that John Smedley was taking some time off and stepping down as company president into a different role, it turns out he’s left the company for good.

Daybreak confirmed the move to GameInformer. “On behalf of Daybreak, we wish Smed well in his new endeavors,” said a company representative. “Any questions regarding his new business should be directed to him.”

Smedley left the company following a harassment campaign by a hacker group which sent a bomb threat and posted his financial details online. The situation culminated in Smedley taking to Twitter to vow to bring down those responisble. During Smedley’s anger-fueled tirade, he even threatened to pursue the hacker’s parents in civil court. He stepped down soon after. It looked like he planned to return to a less public facing role, but an update on his Facebook page has him listed as CEO of a new company.

Smedley told GameInformer that he’s not currently ready to announce anything, but news should be coming in the next few weeks.
