Just Cause 3 system requirements revealed - Rico likes a beefy rig

Just Cause 3's system requirements have officially been released by developer Avalanche Studios, and while you'll hardly need to SLI a trio of 970s to run Rico's sandbox, the recommended specs aren't exactly insubstantial.

Eager for more open-world action? Here are the best sandbox games on PC.

The official PC specs were recently revealed on the game's Steam page. Let your eyeballs suck 'em up:

Minimum Specifications

  • OS: Vista SP2, Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K, 3.3 Ghz | AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3 Ghz
  • Memory: 6GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 (2GB) | AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB)

Recommended Specifications

  • OS: Vista SP2, Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB Ram
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (3GB) | AMD R9 290 (4GB)

A 3GB GTX 780 is hardly chump change territory, but seeing as Avalanche recently released a video of Just Cause 3 in 4K, this is a game that has seemingly been designed to push your rig.

The game is out December 1st. Personally, I loved Just Cause 2 - it was glorious fun to muck about in. If the sequel can maintain those wonderful traversal mechanics, and finally insert some non-shonky story missions, you may just be in for another sandbox Christmas treat.

I remember when Recommended meant "What you need to play this at 1080P". Have we moved on to 1440P, now?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing this. No Hitman or XCOM this year means I have space in my schedule for this. :)
