Life is Strange could have a second season, but it would be with a whole new cast

Life is Strange episode 2 trailer

Dontnod Entertainment have been having a good time creating episodic adventure Life is Strange, gaining critical approval for its time-travelling high school tale. But should the game come back for a second season, the story of Max and Chloe would be left behind in favour of a brand new cast of characters.

Talking to Polygon at E3, producer Luc Baghadoust explained that the story of Life is Strange is complete as a single season, and wouldn’t need carrying on. Co-game director Michel Koch suggested that if they were to return to Life is Strange, the studio would follow the anthology-style route akin to TV series’ like American Horror Story and True Detective, which maintain a signature style but change stories and characters season to season.

“We can really go with other characters, other locations, but still keep the identity of the game, the themes of the game,” he said.

It’s an interesting direction, but on I think suits Life is Strange. It would allow Dontnod to explore a completely different set of social issues, perhaps from a different sub-culture. The further the team can spread their creative wings, the better.
