Mafia 3 announced, first trailer will be shown at Gamescom in August

Mafia 3

2K Games have announced that they’re returning to gangland culture with Mafia III. The third game in the series has been rumoured for a while, but the publisher has made a clear announcement by adjusting the branding of the Mafia Facebook page with Mafia III banners and images.

The artwork reveals very little, but it looks like we won’t be returning to the classic 40/50s time period. The banner shows characters standing in front of a set of American muscle cars, which were prominent in the 1960s and 1970s. These decades were also big for crime films, and considering the Mafia games have always taken heavy influence from cinema, this time period is no surprise.

More answers will come on August 5th at 13:00, when the first trailer will be shown at Gamescom, alongside a presentation behind closed doors. Keep your eyes on the Mafia Facebook and Twitter feeds for more information.

A recent casting call for a game that sounded like it could potentially be Mafia III suggests that the game will be set in Louisiana.
