Mechwarrior Online special Jenner commemorates young fan; raises money for charity

Mechwarrior Online

Mechwarrior Online’s developer, Piranha Games, have released a special edition Jenner mech to commemorate the death of five-year-old Sarah Parries. Parries, who died from a brain tumour in May, played the game extensively with her father and when the game’s community heard of her death it petitioned the developer to honour her memory.

Piranha got on board with the idea and, learning that Parries’ favourite mech was the Jenner, set about making a special edition version of the battle machine.

The $10 special edition Jenner will have 100% of its proceeds donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, to help fund research into developing new treatments for cancer sufferers.

Sales of the mech have already raised more than $16,000 for the charity. If you’re interested in buying a version of the mech then head on over here.

The mech can’t be sold once bought and it can’t be bought with in-game currency, it’s a straight up $10 purchase. Also, the mech won’t be immediately added to your mechbay, it will be released by the 23 August. The cut off for the sales of Sarah’s mech are 20 August, so don’t waste any time if you’re interested.

Cheers, PC Gamer.
