Developer 4A Games – famed for the Metro series – will soon open a new studio in Malta. The studio will act as the developer’s HQ, with key members of the company relocating from the current Kiev, Ukraine headquarters to Malta as part of the move.

“By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage” said CEO Dean Sharpe in a statement on 4A Games’ website. “Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond.”

Creative Director Andrew Prokhorov will be one of the staff members relocating to Malta. “This marks the start of a new chapter for 4A Games,” he said. “We are proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure.”

Joining Prokhorov in Malta will also be chief technical officer Oles Shishkovstov.

The existing Kiev studio will continue to operate. 4A Games as a whole is currently developing “unannounced titles within the Metro universe as well as further, unannounced projects”.
