Metro: Last Light season pass offers enough single player DLC to last you the summer

Metro: Last Light is a really very good time waiting to be had in a pipe under the ground, if our Steve’s Metro: Last Light review is anything to go by. But is it such fun that you’ll want to spend all season with it, from now til the leaves begin to fade? Til the last bit of lovely pink blossom has long since been trampled beneath a post-apocalyptic Russian boot? I’ll let you decide that, with recourse to newly announced details of the game’s DLC schedule.

Deep Silver today announced that 4A are developing a “series of original single player content packs” to be released over the course of the summer.

The first is the ‘Faction Pack’, due for release in June. Alongside the ‘Chronicles Pack’, it will expand on Metro’s universe and story.

The ‘Tower Pack’, meanwhile, will offer a “unique solo challenge” for experienced players, and the ‘Developer Pack’ provides creative players with “some interesting tools” to use in traversing the world of Metro. Whether than means a new set of weapons or something more unorthodox remains to be seen.

“Artyom’s story may have been concluded in Metro: Last Light, but there are other characters with stories to tell, some familiar locations that fans of the Metro series wanted to revisit, and some new challenges that 4A wanted to explore,” said 4A creative director Andrew Prokhorov. “Since completing the game we have been working on these new stories and hope to release them throughout the summer.”

The whole lot can be pre-purchased on Steam for $14.99 / £11.99 / €14.99. That way, you’ll get an additional weapon: a semi-automatic shotgun rifle. Or I suppose you could wait it out? That’s not really the Metro way, is it?
