Minecraft: Story Mode Episode One will launch on October 13

Telltale sure know how to juggle projects. There’s still more to come from the brilliant Tales From the Borderlands and the alright Game of Thrones, but it looks like Minecraft: Story Mode will arrive before either of them even wrap up.

Personally I prefer how Square Enix releases episodes of Life is Strange with around the same time between each, rather than Telltale’s business model, which seems to be to release it just around when you’ve forgotten what happened in the last one.

Minecraft: Story Mode’s first episode, called The Order of the Stone, will release digitally on October 13 “on Steam and other distribution services”.

This follows confirmation that you’ll be able to customise your avatar for the first time in a Telltale game, which makes absolute sense in the fiction.

Here’s the synopsis: “In Minecraft: Story Mode, playing as either a male or female hero named ‘Jesse,’ you’ll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon.

“While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse’s friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion.”

Telltale are collaborating with Mojang to make sure the essence of the fiction is maintained throughout: Good news if you’re a fan of blocky lore.

As for the Game of Thrones and Tales From the Borderlands finales, Telltale have the following to say: “And one quick note for those looking forward to the season finales of Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones – they are shaping up to be two of our most ambitious finales yet! Look out for more news on those coming out soon.”

Let’s hope that working on such a large amount of projects simultaneously doesn’t affect the quality.
