Mirror’s Edge Catalyst loses momentum, is delayed until June 7

Mirror's Edge

Though it seemed to be sprinting happily towards its imminent May release, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has since taken a tumble and will be delayed by a couple of weeks.

Don’t worry, though, as there are still plenty of upcoming PC games due in May.

The closed beta for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst begins tomorrow, with an aim of testing the game’s social functionalities. This is an area DICE want to “play flawlessly”, and as such there’s a two week extension on development to allow DICE to react to feedback from the beta.

“To support the Social Play features, we are using a brand new online technology,” said design director Erik Odeldahl. “We also want to make sure we have the opportunity and time to address player feedback from the closed beta.

“That is why we will give ourselves a bit more time to perfect the game, with a new release date for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst of June 7th (NA) and June 9th (EU). We’re confident that these extra two weeks will make sure the game is as amazing as possible for you the players. Thank you all for your continued support and excitement for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. The return of Faith is imminent.”

For now, you can always have a look and see if your PC’s up to the task in the released Mirror’s Edge Catalyst system requirements.
