A new RollerCoaster Tycoon has been announced, and it’s everything you never wanted

New RollerCoaster Tycoon game is a terrible mobile title

Update: Apparently a PC version is also in the pipeline.

Remember when a new Dungeon Keeper was announced and we all got rather excited until we realised it was going to be a penny pinching mobile title instead of anything remotely resembling Bullfrog’s tongue-in-cheek PC classic?

Well, I hope you’re suitably recovered, because another venerable franchise is getting flung under the unstoppable mobile and social networking bus: RollerCoaster Tycoon. To add insult to injury, Atari’s new theme park constructing, roller coaster-devising title has had the number 4 stuck to the end of it, as if it was a real sequel.

Once you get past the impossibly chirpy voice over, the trailer almost has one believing that it’s what you’d expect from a RollerCoaster Tycoon game; the visuals even evoke the look of the first two games, though they are considerably worse than the third. But then at the 0:17 mark the hellmouth opens up. Facebook integration! Annoy your friends! Visit their parks for some reason! Turn relationships into currency!

“It’s finally here!” the video gleefully announces, because this is what we’ve all been waiting for.

Cheers, Eurogamer.
