Overkill’s The Walking Dead trailer still leaves us in the terrifying dark

Overkill's The Walking Dead

Overkill is showing off its The Walking Dead game at E3, and has crafted this trailer to show us what it’s all about. Hopefully all you need to know about it is ‘zombies’ though, as the trailer still offers no more clarification on what The Walking Dead really is.

The trailer opens with some live-action footage of dirty rotting zombies before transitioning to video made with the game-engine. Whilst there’s stuff to see that’s obviously part of the game’s map design, there’s not exactly any gameplay footage, leaving us still very much clueless as to what type of game The Walking Dead is.

Announced last summer, Overkill described it as a co-op shooter with elements of action, role-playing, survival horror and stealth. But is it akin to Overkill’s other game, Payday, and thus a bit like Left 4 Dead? Is it more akin to Dead Island? Nobody knows.

The game is due for a PC release in 2016, and will be tailored for Starbreeze’s StarVR headset.
