Overlord: Fellowship of Evil revives the series with rotting villains trying to work together in four-player co-op

Overlord Fellowship of Evil

If you thought Codemasters had decided to make nothing but things on four wheels anymore, you’re drastically mistaken. The Overlord series is coming back for a third stab at greatness, but this time as a cooperative multiplayer game where four players attempt to tackle the ghoulish Trials of Evil.

Thanks to a curse that seems to be making the whole world twee and floral, the minions are looking for a new Overlord to bring back chaos and gnarly architecture. Of course, there can only be one Overlord, which doesn’t lend to co-op gameplay, so players will be taking on the roles of the Netherghūls: four of the baddest of the bad, recently resurrected to help bring destruction to the world.

Rhianna Pratchett is back on scripting duties, and much of the Codemasters team seem to be returning too. Due to the multiplayer nature of the game the core mechanics are slightly different to that of a traditional Overlord game, with a heavier emphasis on combat. It’s still very much a part of the universe though, and the comic writing will ensure a sense of continuation.

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil will release later this year.
