Overwatch closed beta set to return on February 9

Overwatch beta progression system

Last month, Blizzard suggested Overwatch’s closed beta would return in “mid-February”, but it now seems we’re getting it a touch earlier than planned. On February 9, the Overwatch beta will return, bringing with it a selection of new features as previously promised.

After pulling the closed beta in December so as to make some technical tweaks and to round up player feedback, Blizzard hoped Overwatch’s test phase would return in January. A couple of weeks back, the developer revealed it’d slip into this month.

Now, in less than a week, Overwatch’s closed beta returns with an all-new progression system, two new maps (including a new game mode), “several” hero balance updates, and a “variety of Private Game updates, including full AI matches”, according to a post on the game’s website. Expect full patch notes soon.

If you were part of the closed beta before the end of 2015, you’ll again have access this time round. Should you wish to sign up afresh, you want to head in this direction.

February 9 marks the return of the Overwatch beta in Europe and the Americas, however our Asian friends will unfortunately have to wait until February 16. For more information on global regions, point your browser this-a-way.
