ProSiebenSat.1 and Planetside 2 part ways; EU accounts to migrate back to SOE

Planetside 2 EU servers have run via ProSiebenSat.1 since launch.

The division between the European Planestide 2 community and its international counterpart became much starker with the introduction of the game's Player Studio, which wasn't available on ProSienbenSat.1's EU servers.

So the atmosphere today is of quiet gratitude on the official SOE forums, and of sweary celebration over on the Planetside Reddit. SOE have announced the near-future migration of all ProSienbenSat.1 accounts for Planetside 2, DC Universe Online and EverQuest II back to SOE.

“We constantly review community feedback via all channels and want to thank you for your ongoing dialog,” said SOE.

Region locks have already been lifted for sign-up, so new European players can nab SOE accounts without any fuss.

SOE will offer existing EU players the chance to migrate their characters and in-game cash over to the studio’s own Station Account system from about July 1.

Payment details and personal information won’t be transferred automatically - you can enter them again to make new purchases through your SOE account.

Migrated EU players with existing subscriptions will be upgraded to SOE All Access, which incorporates subs for EverQuest, EverQuest II and DC Universe Online - and a monthly 500 Station Cash bonus for use in Planetside 2.

The most palpable change will be in the Player Studio, however. SOE will now be accepting submissions from EU countries, beginning with Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the UK. What would you like to see up there?

glad I refused to migrate my SOE account, also wasn't aware there was a region lock on PS2 when I played it I did it through my SOE account and not the crappy european group.

but firms who use different service providers for different regions always have problems and the quicker firms realise this the better.

Glad I never migrated my account. I've tried helping others create accounts for ps2 so we could play together, but Prosieben didn't want us to. Glad that partnership is over.
