Planetside 2 player generated missions coming this August

Rather than push their players around any further, SOE are letting players make their own missions. The update is due out this August and it will allow folk with enough certification points to create mini hotspots on the game map to draw in players from their factions to contest an area of Auraxis.

It’s a canny little feature and should allow commanders more control in directing their troops.

According to a post on SOE’s forums, the developer “want to give players (with appropriate command certs) the ability to create mission hotspots on the map that can be viewed by their entire Empire.”

The missions would request a specific action in a specific location, say calling in airstrikes on a particular base. Players that took part would receive bonus experience as a reward. Another example provided was a bonus for deploying to a certain location, essentially urging players to begin a ground assault on that position.

SOE provided this handy bulletpoint breakdown of how the missions would work:

An example mission might look something like one of these:

  • Air Strikes at location
    • XP bonus to ground kills/assists while in aircraft at this location.
    • Greatly increased gunner XP bonus (for Lib Pilots)
    • Greatly increased XP bonus for Sunderer kills.
  • Deployment to location
    • Large XP increase to deploy-bonuses.
    • Large XP increase to AMS spawn bonuses.
    • XP bonus for repairs to any deployment vehicle (Galaxy & Sunderer)
    • XP bonus to squad-deploy bonuses
    • Increased weight on Instant-action values

The update is due out this August.

Cheers, RPS.
