PopCap Dublin closes its doors; 96 staff laid off

Comment

Last month PopCap announced that its Dublin studio was entering 'exploratory consultation'. The result of this month long investigation is that Popcap have decided to close their Irish department and layoff its 96 staff.

According to Gamasutra, PopCap's senior PR director, Garth Chouteau, said "Europe remains a critical market for PopCap. [...] We will continue to grow our presence through centralized services operated from our North American offices and through the extensive European EA network."

He also said that they will be trying to support these 96 staff in finding new work.

Today's announced layoffs do not include the 50 staff who lost their jobs last month.
