Some people with money buy a ticket for Virgin Galactic. Other people - gamers - with less money, pre-order VR tech. Both are relatively expensive, both are in some ways a leap into the dark, but they also offer the chance to be on the frontier of something literally game-changing. It's exciting!Reply

Or in some cases, people with barely any money buy in anyway, because YOU CAN'T STOP MY DREAMS.

It's nearly 50% cheaper at various cdkey sites. Well worth it.

All of which are selling Uplay keys, not Steam.

Mystery solved.

I have not, and don't plan on it. Cost too much and will suffer the Titanfall problem. By January very few people will be playing.

I'm enjoying it and don't regret my purchase one bit (it's providing enjoyable moments of light relief in between tense bouts of Rainbow Six), but you are probably right. After the Force Awakens, people will start to tire of Battlefront. Shame.

You only needed to read beyond "from the creator of X-Com" to stop yourself from being duped.

There's no split screen on PC though, right?Reply

That's what I've heard too, which is very disappointing.

What's the opinion on UPlay these days? I've actively avoided any Ubisoft game for many years, have they got any better with their awful DRM practices?
Richie Shoemaker Avatar

Not sure how restrictive it is on number of installs, etc, but as a client I find it's no more or less of an aggravation than Origin.

WWO did have a habit of killing off its user base, which probably hastened its demise.Reply
Aever Avatar

Mechanically it's probably still the best MMO out there, so "demise" is probably not in the near horizon. Eventually, but not just yet.

Everything else feels outdated though.

To be honest Orgin is pretty decent these days. Not that I love EA in any way, but it has improved a bit, considering it could be a lot worse.

Elite: Dangerous review snippet How good are the sounds in Elite: Dangerous?
Considering how poor the medium of space is at conducting sound, Frontier has done a brilliant job of tickling your brain via your ears. There are of course plenty of standard-issue sci-fi effects to take in; beeps, boops, zaps, hums and background static, all of which is expertly crafted and delightfully subtle. There are however one or two areas where the sound design borders on genius; an example being the throbbing and whining of your ship as it strains to accelerate, and later on, when under attack, as faint metallic groans work to ensure you can feel the bulkheads buckling all around you. Probably even more than the cockpit interiors, the sounds of your ship work to reinforce the fact that your vessel is you both your armour and your tomb as you navigate the most hostile environment humans are ever likely to endure.
