Rainbow Six Siege will release with 10 maps; more coming later

Rainbow Six Siege maps

Update 17/09/15: Ubisoft will release all DLC maps for Rainbow Six Siege for free. “We want players to stay with us for the long term and have ambitious post-launch plans that we will detail at a later stage,” said the publisher in a statement.

The Rainbow Six Siege beta is a mere week away, kicking off on September 24th, letting those lucky enough to nab codes duke it out in tactical infiltrations across peaceful suburbs, grounded planes and maps we’ve yet to play in. How many maps are going to be in the finished game, though?

Level designer Benoit Deschamps revealed, in an interview with PC Gamer, that Rainbow Six Siege would launch with 10 maps, though the team had ideas for around 50.

While the number was cut down from 50 to 10, Deschamps clarified that the number is set to increase. “[W]e have more planned because we’re already working on more content for players after launch,” he explained.

I had a lot of fun with the Rainbow Six Siege alpha, but felt that it still had a long way to go. Keep an eye out for our beta impressions next week.

Cheers, PC Gamer.
