Rift 2.2 update brings the Carnival of the Ascended to Tempest Bay

Rift’s Carnival of the Ascended won’t just be hitting the Tempest Bay this year but will spread across all of Telara, bringing with it hats that can be worn at a jaunty angle and colourful mounts of all shapes and sizes (that’s a lie, we don’t know what shape or size they’ll be, they could be exceedingly similar shapes and sizes).

There’s also a somewhat threatening world event planned, called Steppes of Infinity zone. Ooh-er, more below.

According to the announcement post, update 2.2 will also adda PvP Wheel of Fate which matches players against each other randomly in an alternative Warfront-style game mode; an anniversary cape;a new Tier 2 Planar Attunement level to PvP; on top of that there’s also a third tier being added for everyone, adding a new set of powers to all of Rift’s six planes.

Next month is also going to see a free few days for players to return and try out the new Storm Legion content. Yup, from 21 to 25 March anyone and everyone can hop into Rift to sample the game.

Also, as it is the game’s second anniversary, Trion World’s are giving a bonus to all subscribers that will run from 21 March to 4 April. All subscribers will enjoy 20% increases in the following:

  • Guild XP
  • Normal Kill XP or Planar Attunement (depending on character level)
  • Prestige
  • Favor
  • Planarite
  • Dungeon currency
  • Zone Event currency

So that’s pretty nifty.

There’s not been an announced release date for the update but considering how much of this new content is dated around the 21 March that would be a good bet as to when we expect to see it hit Telara.
