Rocket League update adds painted gear and stat-tracking items

Rocket League painted topper

The June update for Rocket League adds two new interesting types of items: painted and certified. These will be available from the online item drop pool.

Rocket League is undeniably one of the best multiplayer games on PC.

Painted items are familiar wheels and toppers, but randomly coloured with new paint jobs. “Titanium White” and “Burnt Sienna” are two such paints that you may find.

More complicated are Certified items, which track certain statistics and can upgrade when you achieve certain milestones. For example, the Sniper Wizard Hat is a special version of the Wizard Hat that tracks long-distance goals. The hat tracks how many long goals have been scored, and when 50 have been tracked the hat upgrades to the Skillful Sniper Wizard Hat.

The stats required to upgrade to the next tier depend on the skill being tracked. So easier skills will require more actions to be performed than more difficult ones.

Certified items only track in online Casual and Competitive games, so be sure to be in one of these modes when attempting to upgrade your item.

The Rocket League website teases that these items are just the beginning for the June update, and more news regarding the Item system will be coming next week.
