Star Wars Battlefront Battle of Jakku DLC trailer brings us closer to The Force Awakens

Star Wars Battlefront Battle for Jakku

Star Wars Battlefront has been in the wild for a couple of weeks now, and that means it’s time for a bit of DLC. If you pre-ordered the game you can play Battle of Jakku right now, as it releases on December 1st for the most eager players. If you didn’t pick it up until after release, you can play the new Jakku maps and Turning Point game mode from the 8th.

Jakku is an interesting place as it’s actually from the new Star Wars films. Not that this is a Force Awakens-themed DLC though: the Battle of Jakku takes place 29 years before The Force Awakens, a film that’s set 30 years after Return of the Jedi. What I’m saying is: this is pretty much Original Trilogy territory, so don’t expect those awesome new Storm Trooper designs.

Much of the new additions in Battle of Jakku were shown off in a livestream event, but the key details are: two new maps set on the desert planet of Jakku, including a large-scale one called Graveyard of Giants (presumably named after the hulking great crashed Star Destroyer). The new Turning Point game mode sees 40 players attack each other, with the Rebels attempting to dislodge an Imperial base. They’ll need to capture points before time runs out, and if captured new bases are revealed for capture. Each new set of capture points are increasingly difficult to seize.
