This State of Decay: Survival Edition box art hints at the future of Xbox to PC ports

Back in 2001, with the release of the first Xbox, Microsoft largely abandoned PC gaming. Lots of times over the past 14 years they’ve said they’re ready to give new focus the PC but it’s never materialised. However, the box art for State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition hints at change.

“Only on Xbox One & PC.”

In the past when a game only came out on Xbox and PC the box art for the Xbox edition made no mention of it. Now there’s this new box art design. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, it’s just box art. But, if this becomes a trend, hopefully we’ll see more connectivity between the platforms, now that Mircosoft aren’t ignoring the fact people play games on PCs anymore.

After all, it comes just a month after a Microsoft conference where the company said they wanted to connect Windows 10 and Xbox Live, finally letting gamers link their achievements on both Xbox consoles and PC to the Xbox Live account.

State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition is a fully remastered version the game, providing properly supported 1080p resolutions. It also includes both the Lifeline and Breakdown add-ons and other DLCs released since launch. Preorders also get access to a Soviet semi-automatic rifle, an offroad SUV, and a folding axe.

It’ll release worldwide on May 1, 2015.
