World of Warcraft's Alliance is getting a chopper after all

World of Warcraft's Alliance is getting a chopper after all

If you cast your mind back a couple of months, you might recall the bizarre reality webshow, Azeroth Choppers. In it, two teams of Blizzard folk constructed choppers based on the Horde and Alliance factions, overseen by that professional shouty man and bike maker from American Choppers.

Upon creation of the choppers, folk were asked to vote for the best one, which would make it into the game. Of course, that meant that one faction would miss out. It was the Horde bike that won - because tusks on a bike are pretty wonderful - leaving the Alliance with nothing. Blizzard have backpedaled, however, and now both bikes will be available for World of Warcraft players.

Is this the Curse of Naxxramas? Hearthstone players charged twice for campaign

Blizzard’s first attempt to charge for Hearthstone DLC has gone awry. Some players who’ve bought the second chapter of the Curse of Naxxramas campaign we talked about this morning have been unable to access it. Others have found their accounts charged more than once.

Blizzard have signaled to indicate they’re aware of the bugs, and are doing something about it.

Stay for a spell: part two of Hearthstone's Curse of Naxxramas campaign has arrived

Hearthstone has been one of the best games of 2014 so far, but it doesn’t feel like a 2014 game at all. Its slowburn beta success and leisurely rolled-out single player mode have made its release feel like a neverending mexican wave around the BlizzCon stadium.

Here comes the Curse of Naxxramas campaign’s second part, to mark the CCG’s latest lap of honour.

Get clued up on the history of Warcraft while you wait for Warlords of Draenor

For almost 20 years, Blizzard has been constructing the universe of Warcraft, from the birth of the Titans to the wars between the Horde and the Alliance. There’s a lot to take in, with each game, expansion, comic and novel expanding and fleshing out the gargantuan story.

If you’re not sure who the gods are or why Ner’zhul had a portal fetish, then worry no more. YouTuber Nobbel87 has taken on the massive task of gathering the lore of Warcraft and turning it into a digestible 40 minute video. So you can get an overview of the entire history of Blizzard’s universe in the length of time it takes a lecturer to teach you about one Ancient Greek vase.

Here are all the new cards coming to Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramas

Curse of Naxxramas has added over 30 new cards to the game as well as introduced raiding, which will let players venture into the depths of Naxxramas. The raid itself will feature five wings - the first being free, and the rest requiring gold or real money - which will unlock progressively over the course of the next five weeks.

We’ve done some detective work and rounded up all of the cards, so you can start planning your new and improved Naxxramas themed decks. Which is your favourite?

Slot up: Blizzard unveils Heroes of the Storm's artifacts system

Last week, Blizzard revealed its already divisive plans for out-of-game levelling system in Heroes of the Storm. Today the developer has gone into the nitty gritty of one of these features: artifacts. The reaction from the community appears to be overwhelmingly negative.

When you hit Player Level 15, you’ll unlock one of three artifact slots. Two further slots can be unlocked with gold. Gems, relics and trinkets can be placed into their specific slots, conferring bonuses to the heroes using them. It’s not unlike League of Legends’ rune system.

Meet Shadowmoon Valley: new Warlords of Draenor zone offers a "false sense of security"

It’s like they say: never anger a riverbeast. Like heavily-armoured environmentalists on all fours, these rock-like hippoposters appear docile until their habitat is disturbed. After that, they appear as 4,000 pounds of fat and muscle charging headlong towards your avatar.

Level 90 or no, Shadowmoon Valley promises “countless hidden perils" for Warlords of Draenor first-timers once they’ve trudged through the Tanaan Jungle.

Heroes of the Storm progression overhaul incoming; introduces hero levels and artifacts

Heroes of the Storm is still evolving in its technical alpha; the latest announcement is that of a new leveling system. Players will not only have a player level, but individual levels for each hero. Increasing your hero level will unlock core gameplay features such as heroic abilities and talents, as well as cosmetic skins and mount variants.

Also announced is the introduction of artifacts, but their exact use is yet unclear. “We’ll have much more information to share on that in the coming days" promises the blog post.

Blizzard restore the StarCraft II widow mine to former glory in balance test

Blizzard have just last night published a new version of StarCraft II’s balance test map to the great PC strategy game's Custom Games list. Catchily titled ‘(2)OvergrowthLE (2.1.3 Balance v1.1)’, it’s seen tentative changes to one unit that’s made its mark on the competitive game since Heart of the Swarm - the Terran widow mine.

Hearthstone’s Curse of Naxxramas adventure will be dealt onto the table next week

If you’ve quite had enough of having your rear-end handed to you in Hearthstone’s competitive matches (or, indeed, handing other people’s rears to them), then you can soon enjoy a little solo time with those fancy cards of yours: Curse of Naxxramas, the single-player adventure for Hearthstone, will be landing on Tuesday, July 22nd.

Heroes of the Storm's new Garden of Terror map has a day/night cycle and "plant zombies"

I’m sat in a garden right now, and it’s really quite pleasant. The only sign of impending terror is the suspiciously granular birdsong which might - might - herald an incoming android patrol a la Sir, You Are Being Hunted.

The triumphant Heroes of the Storm is much more upfront about its horticultural horrors. When night falls on its new three-lane battleground, the creatures of the night will come out.

Diablo III becomes the last major Blizzard game to get a Chinese launch

Diablo III occupies a strange rockpool in the space-time continuum. Just two years old, it feels like it’s been with us forever: never not being streamed, and never quite finished - even after Reaper of Souls.

But there’s still one major market on the planet where Diablo III never arrived: China. Blizzard will partner with local internet company NetEase to lower the final of their five series pillars into place in the region.

Blizzard's Mike Morhaime on inclusivity: "We are challenging ourselves to draw from more diverse voices"

Blizzard president Mike Morhaime has said that the studio is making and effort to ensure that its games and stories are as inclusive and epic as possible.

The comments were made in a response to an open letter from a player who has drifted away from Blizzard’s games due to the lack of gender and ethnic diversity in the likes of World of Warcraft and Diablo III.

Ban rush: how Blizzard tackle cheats in StarCraft II

Blizzard aren’t really interested in catching StarCraft II cheats - not really. Ultimately, they’d rather deter them, stop them from even trying - so that nobody has to have their match ruined before the banhammer comes down.

Consider this post, then, the Blizzard equivalent of a ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ sticker - and learn something about the anti-cheat measures in one of the best PC strategy games in the process.

Hearthstone's Curse of Naxxramas won't cost you your soul

Hearthstone’s dungeon expansion, Curse of Naxxramas, will take adventurous card sharks (and orcs, humans etc) to the floating necropolis of Naxxramas for good times and boss battles this month. Today, Blizzard’s broken down the pricing and bundles and introduces the very World of Warcraft Heroic mode.

If the upcoming expansion is piquing your interest, but you’re fresh-faced and deckless, take a look at Nick’s best Hearthstone decks for beginners

Watch Blizzard walk you through Heroes of the Storm's talent system

Blizzard’s entry into the MOBA genre, Heroes of the Storm, has just opened up its gates to a wave of testers from outside the US. With the increase in population, Blizzard have released a helpful tutorial on their take on player progression: the talent system. Even if you’re not in the alpha test, it’s worth a watch to understand their clever philosophy.

Earlier this year me and Tim spent some time inside the Nexus, and we had a “complete blast" in our Heroes of the Storm preview.
