America gets randomized in Europa Universalis IV: Conquest of Paradise on January 14

Conquest of Paradise is out now; here's our Europa Universalis IV: Conquest of Paradise review.

If I was in the habit of writing flowery poems, I'd write most of them about Europa Universalis IV. Its vast scope and depth coupled with a plethora of tools to craft all manner of alternate history narratives made it my favourite strategy romp this year and one of the best grand strategy titles I've had the good fortune to play. So obviously I'm rather looking forward to January 14, when Europa Universalis IV's first expansion, Conquest of Paradise, drops.

Conquest of Paradise creates a randomised American continent, with new geography and a slew of new tribes to play with or fight against while expanding the native experience with brand spanking new abilities like migrating from provinces, creating confederations of tribes and working through a new advancement track, making progress hopefully less dreary.

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow expansion summons commercialist dystopia

Blade Runner is set in 2019 and depicts a city of towering monolithic superstructures that house district-sized populations and bathe the ground beneath them in gaudy neon colours. We’ve only six years left until that vision of Los Angeles is upon us, but you’ll be able to make it much sooner in SimCity’s upcoming expansion: Cities of Tomorrow. The expansion pack will also include every other staple of the dystopian skyline, including massive clouds of infectious fog and surveillance drones.

EVE Online: Retribution will revolutionise bounty hunting, for great justiceThe next EVE Online expansion is the 18th such free update the space MMORPG business and entrepreneurship simulator will receive, and it's all about consequences. Specifically, the consequences of law-breaking, player-murdering, bounty-hunting and CONCORD-riling. Titled Retribution, the winter update will overhaul EVE's near-decade old bounty system, rework criminal activity, introduce new ships, update old ones, begin the integration of DUST and EVE and generally spruce everything else up. Here's how it will "go down", as a criminal might say. Yeah that's right, I've seen Road Wars.

Mists of Pandaria interview: Blizzard discuss Pandaren Monks, battling pets and how to launch an MMOYou don't need reminding, but just in case you're that man I saw on a Channel 4 documentary with a fifteen second memory: Mists of Pandaria launched last night, introducing WoW players to a new world, a new class, a new race, a new batch of features and systems and pet battles and updates. All that excitement was enough to make us want to sit down with Darren Williams, WoW's Senior Gameplay Engineer and Scott Mercer, the game's Senior Game Designer and discuss how the grubby conflict between Alliance and Horde is corrupting Pandaria, why WoW will stick to its traditional questing guns and exactly how to launch an MMO without a server room catching fire.

The upcoming expansion is all about vehicular combat, with this trailer expertly demonstrating that. It show all manner of death machine, from big tanks and fast trucks to angry jets and giant gunships (well, one gunship, the AC-130), all frantically duking it out across the biggest map the series has ever seen.
