Mojang postpone Minecon until 2015; still to take place in London

Mojang have announced that there won’t be a Minecon this year as previously planned, instead being moved to “spring" next year where it is still to take place in London. The exact reason for the postponement is unknown, but the Mojang blog post by COO Vu Bui seems to suggest it was a problem to do with the venue.

“We want to make sure we can follow through with the event and we never want people to start planning to attend something that might not happen."

MineCon 2013 sells out at silly speeds; Mojang warn against "scalpers" in rush for more tickets

In the UK we call them, rather quaintly, ‘ticket touts’; in Mojang’s book they’re “scalpers" - gruesome trophy hunters intent on selling the promise of MineCon 2013 at vastly inflated prices. As the painfully limited supply of tickets to the Orlando event dries up, the developers are advising fans against buying second-hand.

Minecon 2013 location revealed

Minecon’s been to some lovely, giddy places places in its short history. In 2010, it tore up Bellevue, Washington. In 2011, it drove through the desert to Vegas. And last year it outdid itself, booking the Eurostar to Disneyland Paris.

Where could it be this time?

Minecon 2012 headed to Disneyland Paris with an announcement trailer

MINECON, the massive convention held for Minecraft, is happening again, almost like it’s some sort of annual thing. It was held at Las Vegas last year, to celebrate the official release of Mojang’s towering pile of blocks that is their tower building block based simulator. This year, however, they’re headed to Disneyland Paris, on Nonvember 24th-25th. That means all the Minecraft players in Paris can attend. And some from Europe, too. And probably some from America.
And us!

Minecon to be held in Europe this year

Comment
Minecon to be held in Europe this yearThe Official Minecon is coming back for a second year, moving from the neon lit debauchery of Las Vegas to somewhere in Europe, which is quite a bit closer to Mojang itself, based in Sweden, but also anyone who also happens to live within the European continent. Crazy. This is all according to a blog post on the Mojang site, which, unfortunately, doesn’t give a whole lot more in terms of information. But there’s a few tidbits.
