Game Freak are making their debut on PC with a new 2D over-the-top side-scroller, all about Tembo, the Badass Elephant. Partnering with Sega, who will publish the game, Game Freak have set down a digital release for summer this year.

We’ve got a trailer of the game in action, and it’s explosive to say the least.

The game is set in a fictitious Shell City, where members of a infamous PHANTOM group have attacked. It’s up to commando Tembo, and his avian side kick, Picolo, to “butt stomp” his way through 17 levels filled with comic book style art.

Game Freak are most notable for their extremely popular Pokémon games for various Nintendo consoles and handhelds. Now, with Tembo the Badass Elephant, it’ll mark the developers first PC game.

Sega, who are publishing the game, were no less than ecstatic about the partnership. “We’re delighted to be working with Game Freak to bring this heavyweight adventure to an audience we feel it will have relephants to,” said Sega’s John Clark, senior VP of commercial publishing. “It’s a trunkful of fun and we think gamers are going to love it. Hopefully more than my rubbish elephant puns.”

The game is due out for a digital release in summer this year.
