Christmas comes to Novigrad in the Winter is Coming mod for The Witcher 3

Witcher 3 Christmas

The Witcher 3 takes place during the spring, with god rays splitting through the tree branches, the red sun setting over the horizon and golden corn gently swaying in the breeze. We never got to experience the biting cold of winter, despite the similarities to the Game of Thrones universe.

If you like mods, we’ve got a great list of Skyrim mods. That game already has snow though.

Luckily, as this is PC, there’s a mod for that, and it’s called, aptly, Winter is Coming. It covers all of Novigrad’s textures with the white stuff. Erm, with this being The Witcher 3, I should clarify that ‘the white stuff’ is snow. Ahem.

As you can see in the trailer embedded above, these environments really suit the winter makeover, so it’s a shame CD Projekt didn’t put out something official. Saying that, they’re probably too busy beavering away on Cyberpunk 2077. I take it back, CDPR, you carry on. We’ll wait.

The mod seems pretty straightforward anyway, so just head over to ModDB and grab it if you want a little witchery winter wonder. As ever, mods are messed with at your own peril, so don’t shout at us if you delete your save file or something. Follow the instructions properly and you should be alright though.

Don’t bother heading to Toussaint if you own Blood and Wine, as the DLC area hasn’t been touched by winter just yet. Here’s another person showing it in action:
