For those who can’t Lego of the past: RollerCoaster Tycoon in plastic bricks

Rollercoaster Tycoon

Traveller’s Tales’ Lego games have made silly stud-chasing surprisingly compelling over the last decade, but I still hold fond memories of the wonky construction games of the ‘90s – of Lego Racers’ nifty kart building tools, Rock Raiders’ reinforced cave roofs, and Legoland’s wholesale ripping-off of RollerCoaster Tycoon.

I’m dredging up the half-baked games of my childhood (sorry about that) because somebody’s gone and recast the most memorable rides, slides and candy floss stands from Chris Sawyer’s masterpiece in Danish bricks.

The MOC (“My Own Creation” in Lego-head lingo) set is the work of amateur builder Yooha, who first posted his work on Eurobricks in December. You can browse the entire thing on imgur.

Aww. Now: who would you task with building a worthy simulation game around all this? Which studios are the latent Bullfrogs of today? Lionhead? Or Introversion?
